....PATRIOTISM FOR LIBERALS IN 2003
...Most folk want to "support our troups"
...It's easy, really... even for a hippie liberal freak...
...here's a couple of things that work in every community in which I've ever lived.
...learn the protocol, and display at least one flag.... properly.
...teach someone else to do the same thing.
...identify and volunteer for some local aid agency, ie; volunteer fire department, hospital auxiliary, red cross, church aid group, etc. Pick ONE...get involved...stay involved. "Dept of Homeland Security" notwithstanding, America's home front needs to be attended to... first, last and always.
...identify your politcal and personal opinions on major national and global issues...
...read and learn to bolster and/or challenge your own opinions.... constantly...
...lastly, and always.... when you see a man or woman in uniform on the street, in church, in the mall, stop and thank him or her.... personally, anonomously, face to face.... do it soon... do it often...
