....here I go again...... pasting from ss.... but I've been rather busy this morning... I started another thread concurrent with this one entitled "Bush..the Shrub...prayer, lies and appeasement"... but this one is where my heart is today.
The Democratic Party must be rebuilt.... now!!
It no longer represents ANYBODY.....

...Not too many of ya'll took advantage of my 'bash liberals' fest yesterday... My conclusion is that you don't REALLY think what Rush and Savage want you to think.. that you don't REALLY think all those horrible things you say about liberals and democrats... I'm touched.... and gratified by your support!
Like many liberals, I've been terribly disappointed in the Democratic Party lately. That the Dems have been so disorganized as to fail in their role as an opposition party weakens America.
Today, I will explore, from my gonzo liberal point of view, the failings, weaknesses and consequences of the Democratic party. This will be difficult, as most of the posters on SS appear to believe that the Dems are only a half step away from American Communism and ruination.
As an intelligent man, I cannot accept that pap. I will not let corporate loudmouths frame the debate over the future of my country. And I will make every effort to rebuild (if neccessary) and strengthen the Democratic Party as the only viable opposition party to the Repubs.
So I'll start by posting some of my favorite liberal links (I assume your folders are quite well stocked with conservative links), then move on to explore the present so-called leadership of the Democratic Party.

I do think I agree with you though. There are so few legitimate "liberals, as well as few legitimate, "conservatives."
The democratic party of today exists for one thing. Get in the way of the republican agenda. They are supposed to be the loyal opposition, but their motivation is abyssmal.
I certainly don't think the GOP is innocent of partisanship , but the degrees of partisanship is different in the two parties.
I look back at the fifties and sixties, and it was an entirely different time, poliically.
It started to change in the seventies, but hatred ruled the day when Ronald Reagan was elected President. Sadly, it's only gotten worse since then.

As a liberal Independant, the Democratic Party is the only place to which I can turn for political representation. I don't like the lack of choice, but have to live with it. To that end, I have decided to participate in the complete rebuilding of the party..... Tiny steps in a long trip.

This piece is from the heartland. There are many, many like it. Good, patriotic liberals have been left in the dark by the DemoParty... left wondering why America has no opposition party,... left wondering why, if the world loves Bush and his policies so much, why so much of it takes to the streets, airwaves and cyberspace to oppose him.

Taking care of the systems that keep us together body and soul USED TO BE the job of the Democratic Party.
