..America has been hijacked by extremists.
..Not content to have their president in office, American so-called conservatives aim to re-make America in the style of Pinochet's Chile.

...America is undergoing a military coup for the first time in history.
...the Shrub, convinced his contrived 'victory' gives him a mandate for dictatorship, has privatized much of the American military. He will continue to do so until our country's military is a weak second to the private army favored by dicators across the globe.
...Seeing the writing on the wall, Tony Blair is leading Britain headlong down that same road.
...Our country is dying, and the president and his stooges will laugh all the way to the bank...

Your link doesn't support either of these statements. It discusses only what is happening in Britain. What is your basis for believing this is also happening here?

..I've been following the rise in use of military contractors for some time.
...this link is one of my oldest...
..I can grab some more later when I get home...(I writing from a friends 'puter and have none of my links handy)
..NPR replayed last nite a story about this...original airdate was sometime in the beginning of February..

...A parallel subject is the rise in use of the CIA as combatants. Removed from public scrutiny even further than defense contractors, we will never know what has been done in our name from these folks...

That's right Dale. Mikey was even duped into believing that the Coast Guard was actually military service.

Mike, I must be an idiot. I really thought he was using Mein Kampf to redesign the intelligence structure of America. If he was his grandpappy would be SOOOO proud of him. The question is will he suceed in making Homeland Security an American security blanket providing blanket security. He'll need more terrorist attacks to accomplish that. Then we will be able to see if America likes what is happening under the covers of that blanket statement "National Security."
If he fails to establish Homeland security as America's Security Blanket. Homeland Security will probably leave office with Bush II. America will return to what consistently worked long before Bush II came to town. No need to keep a dangerous reinvention of a Governmnet Bush II could not comprehend. We know the pre Bush II system of Constitutional Rule established and protected America for centuries before Bush II and ONE DAY to forever be known as 9/11. BUSH II's Greatest Failure! I don't think America wants to know if the "New World Order" and it's "Contracts with America" and "Patriot Acts" and "Homeland Security Offices" will be the destruction of The United States of America that is preserved ONLY by it's Constitution.

I hate to disapoint the "Treason" screaming Republicans. But replacing the Constitution is NEVER an option. The British Crown labeled our forefathers as traitors and treasonist against British Rule of this continent of America. WE THE PEOPLE know they were the most Loyal Americans that ever lived. When you work against the Constitution of the United States of America all those that follow the Constitution can be called Traitors and Treasonists against this "New America" in a "New World Order."

Sorry! I'm not through with the OLD and REAL America yet! I was born there and demand the right to die there.

But since THEY have put the subject of TREASON on the floor for discussion. By all means lets talk about it with a Chief Justice making the proper determinations. Go ahead make my day! PLEASE! I'll join in the cry.

TREASON! The REPUBLICANS are Engaged in TREASON against the Constitution! Do I hear a second?

How wise of you to notice that I truely am RETARDED to the New Concepts of the New America in a New World Order. My old fashioned Foolishness expessed in The Constitution of the United States of America absolutely provides me with that retardation to this New Form of Intelligence.

I am quite happy with being a "Dumbass Yankee Doodle Dandy." Now lets see Bush II say that three times fast. Okay that's not fair. We can lower the bar just for him. Let Bush II say it just once at any speed.

Actually it is your Democrat buddies along with a "few Republicans",aka McCain that is subverting the Constitution...like with campaign finance reform...which violates the 1st Amendment and then the filibustering of Erik Estrada which is also shredding the Constitution. I do not hear your Patriotic hollering on this at all. Your silent ignorance on this is appalling.
Our Constitution is still in effect and we are fighting a COMPLETELY new kind of warfare and it is not being shredded as you constantly say it is.
Tell me what rights of yours have been violated and show me where you have been violated and if you cannot I would appreciate it if you would quit your incessant whining, and very, very childish hate of Bush.

As usual that is the lesser of two evils right now. That doesn't make it good it just makes it lesser evil. Right now weneed to ensure that come 2004. There will be an America with a Constitution to hold these Politicans of lesser evil accountable to. Now wonder the dumbasses can't find the answers to america's problems. They are all in the Constitution that these politicians obviously are not reading, contemplating, or perpetuating. They are to busy trying to doit there way instead of The American way. I mean get real. It's more than a slogan that sounds good. That is teh first clue to the fact that it works well. When we have leaders that can MAKE IT WORK. But we keep electing people that can make it NOT WORK so they can do it there way. Americans need to them amessage LOUD AND CLEAR.
YOUR STATESMEN NOT LOUNGE SINGERS. YOU CAN'T DO IT YOUR WAY. YOU MUST DO IT THE AMERICAN WAY!

togglea2: funny how you constantly accuse capn mike of posting useless drivel and yet every time he starts one of these threads there you are, knee deep in the conversation. Do you spend the rest of your day engaged in topics and activities which you don't consider to have merit?
Airman: the Coast Guard is heavily involved in Homeland Security, protecting our borders, bridges, and more. If terrorists try to bring dangerous materials into our country, they may just do it by boat (in fact that's the most likely scenario as I see it). And we will be counting on the Coast Guard to keep us safe and protect our borders. But far be it from you to appreciate their efforts, not when it gets in the way of you insulting another American. You're a class act all the way, godboy.

P.M. Carpenter: 'Is W. the biggest liar since LBJ?'
Posted on Sunday, March 02 @ 08:50:53 EST (917 reads)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By P.M. Carpenter, History News Network

Not since the Johnson-Nixon era has an American president's credibility been so abysmal. Persistent lies about foreign policy -- how we got into Vietnam, why we were staying in and how we were faring militarily and politically -- forced early retirement on a discredited LBJ. Even Lyndon had had enough, already. And though Richard Nixon ran with experts when it came to foreign policy fibs, the fatuous cover-up of domestic misdemeanors chiefly strangled his credibility and finally sent him packing.

Assuming presidential history is still taught in some high schools, the above, I imagine, is at least the bare minimum that most students are asked to retain into adulthood: Johnson...Vietnam...lies...downfall; Nixon...Watergate...lies....downfall. Future history students, however, shall have an even easier time of it when asked to recall the gist of George W. Bush's downfall: He lied about everything

...maybe this story belongs on that thread about the lying shrub.....
