The good ship BOB is sold.
She now belongs to Tony Ward of Pensacola, Florida.
We exchanged papers last week, and Tony has been working happily getting the old girl ready for the trip to Pensacola.

We owned that boat for ten years.
We lived on her for eight. The kids were five and eight when we moved aboard, teenagers when we moved ashore.

She looks good under Tony's watch.
He's done a little carpentry, and a lot of mechanic's stuff; the engine room looks better than it has in years.
The old girl looks good, generally. I can tell she's already thinking about a nice long trip, 'probably already forgotten the long years at the dock.

Later this week, Jen and I will go up to Passadena and watch Tony and BOB go away, out Marley Creek, out Curtis Bay into the Patapsco, then down the Chesapeake.
We'll cry in nostalgia, laugh with relief.

It is said that the two happiest days in the life of a boat owner are the day he buys it, and the day he sells it.
'Couldn't agree more.
